Not very long ago, Soho was basically the red light district of London. This element still exists (the main area is around Raymond's Revue Bar on Brewer Street), but nowadays Soho has become the gay mecca of London. In the last few years, Soho has experienced an explosion of new gay venues. The main street, Old Compton's street, started with Compton's pub and now the whole street is gay.
